Cinderella a massive panto success at The Wyvern in Swindon

Well, what can I say. I have had so much fun photographing and being ‘sort of’ involved with this years Pantomime Cinderella at the Swindon Wyvern Theatre. I have photographed and obviously met and chatted to all of the cast and I have to say what lovely lovely people, every one of them. Victoria Farley as Cinderella and Abigail Matthews as the fairy godmother are two just stunningly attractive and talented young ladies. Dickie Wood as Buttons and Cole Dunn as Dandini hugely talented young men. Ryan Thomas as Prince Charming is excellent. I have met many ‘famous’ people and some are not particularly friendly. Ryan is the opposite, he is so friendly and very modest and is as good in Panto as he was as Jason Grimshaw in Coronation Street, indeed a star. And what can I say about David Ashley as Ballsy Brenda and Louie Westwood as Sweaty Betty the two Ugly Sisters that has not already been said. Both legends in the Panto world, just stunning performance and lovely people to talk to off stage. At times I couldn’t photograph them because I was laughing so much.

The chorus dancers (both teams) all juveniles, hugely talented and professional.

I also want to thank the technical team who have welcomed me and made me feel comfortable and almost ‘part of the crew’ and all of the staff of all of the departments that are just so friendly and helpful, they have all made me feel so much part of a ‘team’ which is something I have not experienced for many years.

It is at times like this I just love my job, well it isn’t even a job, I enjoy it too much.

I think most shows have been sold out but try to get tickets anyway. It is a must see Panto and you will not be disappointed.

Michael Jackson Tribute Wows audience in Swindon at Wyvern Theatre

Today’s update is of a shoot a couple of weekends ago. I was allowed to be back stage at The Wyvern Theatre Swindon for the performance by Ben, The countries finest Michael Jackson Tribute artist. This is the second time I have photographed Ben and it never ceases to amaze me just how realistic Ben is when ‘in character’. And as I am sure those of you who know me I love Michael Jackson music from way back when in the early 70’s to the present day so I for one really enjoyed the performance and was so lucky to see it from the side of the stage.

This is another act that I would definitely recommend you go see if you have the opportunity, you wont be disappointed.

David Bowie Tribute Bowie Experience raised the roof at Swindon Wyvern Theatre

Saturday evening found me at The Wyvern Theatre for the Bowieexperience a David Bowie tribute show. Well I was really really impressed with the show. He and the band sang most of Bowie’s hits and sang them well. I think it is true to say that it is not very often I see pretty much everybody in the theatre standing and dancing but they were at this show. He raised the roof and was just awesome, well worth the effort.

Swindon Summer Youth Project Smashes it at the Wyvern

This years Wyvern Theatre Summer Youth Project was Grease and I don’t think I exaggerate when I say they smashed it again this year. I cannot fault any of the cast of 175 in the performance. Each and every one of them gave a polished and professional performance and I applaud them all.

I photographed the first dress rehearsal and have to admit I found it quite technically difficult. Not just the lighting but with a cast of 175 I felt I missed so much of what was going on. However when I sat back and watched the performance on press night I was amazed what a polished performance a bunch of ‘kids’ put on.

Each and every performance is sold out and so they are playing to a full house every time.

So a big well done to all the cast, crew, backroom guys and the Wyvern Theatre for yet another excellent show.

Wychwood Music Festival 2016

Last weekend I spent an excellent three days at The Wychwood Music Festival in Cheltenham. It is one of the nicest festivals on the circuit. Placed on the Cheltenham Racecourse means that there is so much room that despite crowds of 8000 per day it never seemed crowded. It is one of the most popular family friendly festivals with so much for the children to do whilst the adults get entertained by some big named bands.

This year was no exception with the likes of 10cc, The Waterboys, Craig Charles, Kate Rusby, Matt Berry and the Maypoles, Stereo MC’s, From The Jam, The Selector and Welcome Back Delta to name just a few.

As one of the press pack we were treated so well by FullFat and all of the security and festival organisers it was a real pleasure to be there. I even got to meet Craig Charles who signed one of my images of him from a previous year and Pauline Black from The Selector who I also photographed a couple of years ago. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the guys. It was a real pleasure.

If you like live music and festivals I would advise anybody to get yourself along to Wychwood next year. Well worth it.

Years and Years play to a full house at Swindon Oasis

A seen in The NME New Musical Express and in Swindon last week, Olly Alexander, Emre Turkmen and Mikey Goldsworthy known as Years and Years played to a full house at the Swindon Oasis. And I can understand why they are playing to full houses all around the country. They were very very good, very entertaining and very professional.

Well worth watching and photographing.

Karen Marie Orsted at Swindon Oasis

Danish Electro Pop singer and performer Karen Marie Orsted put on a stunning performance last night as the support act for Years and Years at the Swindon Oasis venue. She needs to headline in her own right. She was very good. And for me she was or appeared to be happy to let me get in close and photograph her.
