Prince Charming, Cinderella and her lovely Sisters come to Swindon

Well it has been a while. Mainly because I have been in hospital for an op which has put me out of the loop for a while. But well on the way to recovery and back to training soon (I hope) and back to being out there with cameras again.

Just before op I had the pleasure of shooting the Press release of this years Wyvern Theatre Panto which is Cinderella. Prince Charming is being played by Ryan Thomas who until recently was Jason Grimshaw in Coronation Street. The lovely Cinderella is played by Victoria Farley. The pretty or ugly sisters Brenda and Betty are being played by David Ashley and Louie Westwood. It was so much fun and there were times when I couldn’t photograph the ugly sisters they were just so funny I had tears in my eyes and this was only the press shoot. The Panto is just going to be hilarious. For anybody who loves Panto and I do, it is a must see.

Big Fun with the girls of Four Sunsets

Wednesday saw me with these four Swindon ladies who were having pre rehearsal cocktails to get in the mood for their show Four Sunsets. They were such a laugh and played out some of the lines from the show and trust me in was hilarious. Below is the official press release.

In preparation for their performance at Swindon Arts Centre this September, the cast of Four Sunsets by TS Theatre stopped for a round of sunset cocktails at Kenzo 72 in Old Town.

Set in the beautiful surroundings of Bali, Four Sunsets has been written, produced and directed by local talent and the four-strong female cast are also from Swindon. Ella Thomas, Laura James, Becci Smith and Jodie Potter have been rehearsing hard over the last two months and are excited to be bringing the play’s debut to the Arts Centre.

Amid white sands, crystal clear waters and stunning scenery, Four Sunsets is a comedy-drama that tells the tale of four friends who seek out paradise for the holiday of a lifetime. As the prospect of returning to reality starts to dawn, the girls find their world turned brutally upside-down and their strength and loyalty tested beyond measure.

Cocktails, holiday shenanigans, talk of the male anatomy and the true meaning of friendship; Four Sunsets provides a perfect night out with the girls.

Lounge Bar and Restaurant Kenzo 72, which brings a touch of exotic style to Swindon, was more than happy to welcome the cast for a round of cocktails to get them in the mood for their rehearsal that evening.

Four Sunsets is at Swindon Arts Centre on Sat 17 September. For more information and to book tickets, visit swindontheatres.co.uk or call Ticket Office on 01793 524481.

Swindon Summer Youth Project Smashes it at the Wyvern

This years Wyvern Theatre Summer Youth Project was Grease and I don’t think I exaggerate when I say they smashed it again this year. I cannot fault any of the cast of 175 in the performance. Each and every one of them gave a polished and professional performance and I applaud them all.

I photographed the first dress rehearsal and have to admit I found it quite technically difficult. Not just the lighting but with a cast of 175 I felt I missed so much of what was going on. However when I sat back and watched the performance on press night I was amazed what a polished performance a bunch of ‘kids’ put on.

Each and every performance is sold out and so they are playing to a full house every time.

So a big well done to all the cast, crew, backroom guys and the Wyvern Theatre for yet another excellent show.

Wychwood Music Festival 2016

Last weekend I spent an excellent three days at The Wychwood Music Festival in Cheltenham. It is one of the nicest festivals on the circuit. Placed on the Cheltenham Racecourse means that there is so much room that despite crowds of 8000 per day it never seemed crowded. It is one of the most popular family friendly festivals with so much for the children to do whilst the adults get entertained by some big named bands.

This year was no exception with the likes of 10cc, The Waterboys, Craig Charles, Kate Rusby, Matt Berry and the Maypoles, Stereo MC’s, From The Jam, The Selector and Welcome Back Delta to name just a few.

As one of the press pack we were treated so well by FullFat and all of the security and festival organisers it was a real pleasure to be there. I even got to meet Craig Charles who signed one of my images of him from a previous year and Pauline Black from The Selector who I also photographed a couple of years ago. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the guys. It was a real pleasure.

If you like live music and festivals I would advise anybody to get yourself along to Wychwood next year. Well worth it.

Jane McDonald at Oxford New Theatre

Tuesday afternoon I met Jane McDonald as part of the press photo shoot at The Oxford New Theatre where she is starring in That’s Entertainment.

She was lovely. She was so friendly and did everything we asked her to do. She is just like she is on the telly Loose Women etc.
I never got to see the show but I would advise anybody to go and see her, very engaging.

A very pleasant photo shoot.
